I am mostly happy with these photos, I think there are some good ones which I will use either on the contents page or on the website. I think ones which I will not use are ones where she is less posed, although I like the ones where she is laughing or smiling naturally. Some of the photos with the black background have bad lighting so I will not be using those. Some need cropping or slight editing.

Name Change

 I have decided to change the name of my magazine from 'PAUSE' to 'THE DROP'. I was unsure on pause as it sounds like 'paws' and it potentially does not have the best link to music. The drop is used when announcing new music so I think it will work well. I used one of my testshots to try it out as a masthead.

Plan

 Photoshoot:

I am going to be using my friend Belle for my photoshoot. I would like to do a mix of head shots as well as more posed shots as seen on my moodboard. Some of these pictures are taken outside, so I could go onto the field to take a few but others have bold backdrops. As these are not the front cover photos, she will not have to make eye contact but some may be more effective if she does. These pictures could be used as photos for articles or in the gallery section on my website.

Website:

I would like to use bright and bold colours and fonts on my website to maintain the brand from the covers. There will be lots of article covers, photos, merch, social media links, and a gallery. I also need to include a short video which I could put in one of the articles about the cover stars.

I thought on the main page underneath the title, there could be poster- style images or the front covers underneath. However, this could potentially look messy or disorganised so I could use a more clean background.

I have started my website on Wix and created this as the beginning of the home page.

Test shots

Cover 1:

I was happy with these test shots whilst there are still changes I want to make. Some of the camera settings will change, come are slightly to dark or too light. Some of the photos are slightly blurry, I think this is because I took some whilst she was moving a bit so I may need to make sure she is posed when I take the photos. I like the background, but may use other similar sparkly curtain things. I would like to try using different lighting as well, such as coloured lighting and maybe different camera shots although I do like the ones I used for these test shots. I did do some pictures with a prop, a disco ball, however this did not work for these test shots as it just looked quite awkward but I could try this again, but I do like the simplicity of these.

Cover 2:

I was less happy with these photos as the day we shot these there was a storm and generally bad weather. They were also shot in my garden, but for the actual ones I would like to do them in a field or something similar, so I would either have Woody with a long grass field and blue sky in the background and potentially a shot from further away, or just the sky in the background. I did not like the lighting in these photos, the sky is too white in some and Woody's face is either shadowed or too light. I do like the styling, I think the suit is effective as intertextuality and is a good contrast to the location. I also like how the covers compliment eachother, the first one is more new and exciting reflecting pop and the second one is more traditional and simple. I may try different backgrounds for this cover for example records or record covers.

I think when I re take these I would do a mid close up shot and a plain background, to try an re create the Alex Turner more as I think this photo is very effective, and I will still be able to have an intertextual reference to Nirvana.
